Kaie waited until she was sure Picifico had gone to her bed and all was quiet within the lodge. She crept out to the stables once more, her mind too busy for sleep and her old restlessness and unease taking a strong hold on her heart. It was a long day of cleaning and taking care of peoples needs and she didn’t mind it, she just wasn’t as good as Killian and she knew several were missing her special touch already. She hoped tomorrow would go a little better, somehow she had managed to turn Caitlin and Killian’s sheets the oddest colors when she tried her hand at the laundry.

Once inside she pulled her blades and began a steady rhythm of throw and strike against the closed double doors. She knew what Picifico had tried to do, giving her credit for the birthday gift to Killian in hopes of earning her a spot in the mysterious subnest. Afterall, Picifico would have no trouble being accepted with all the wonderful qualities she held inside. Kaie just wanted to give Killian a birthday gift she could enjoy, as a thank you for all she and Caitlin did to make her feel welcome and somehow straighten out her mess of a life. She didn’t want any extra credit for that.

THUNK!  Damn her aim was off just a little. She concentrated harder as she released the next throw.

Her mind pondered over the challenging words Killian had left with them. The list of traits and virtues she wanted them to show in order to be worthy of the title, Sub. Her heart ached because she knew it was a test she would always fail. It had been eating at her all day. She knew inside that she didn’t meet most of those qualifications and for the first time in her young life, she wished she did.

THUNK!  Much better. Its been too long since I practiced.

I don’t have those qualities and probably never will. What do I know about serving someone? I don’t have Picifico’s past training, and I never had time to serve anything other then a desire to stay alive and keep running. I’m real good at causing hurt around me though. Kaie was struggling hard to come to terms with the things she knew needed changing so badly in her life, but it was not always easy. In fact, at times it was damned frustrating for someone who could be as stubborn and obstinate as her. Deep inside she knew lying was not quite a desirable trait, but sometimes it was an easy and convenient out when trouble came along.

THUNK! Kaie let out a frustrated sigh. At least her aim was back.

I never fit in with the nobility I was born into, I didn’t cut it as a true criminal because I wasn’t cut throat enough, I would make a pretty laughable warrior, and now …

THUNK!

..now I am an outsider once again even within a new family that loves me anyway. I must be stupid for asking for the right to go in a place like that. Idiot! What do you know about dignity or loyalty, much less telling the truth?

Kaie stalked over to retrieve her blades, her frustration reaching a boiling point. She felt the need to get away rise inside as she paced back to her spot. Her desire to run into the shadows hadn’t been this strong in awhile now. Turning mid-stride she made once last deadly accurate throw for the door.

THUNK!

She blinked in surprise to see a form standing just inside the darkness. Luckily for them both Lord Nessa had fast reflexes and had side- stepped the throw neatly. When had she come in anyway? Her heart skipped a beat at the thought of how close she came to hurting someone once again. Especially this someone. The one who had given her a place to burn off her extra energy and nothing but encouragement on the work she did here. She probably wondered what was causing the thumping noise and came to investigate; Kaie hoped she didn’t think she was here to steal something.

Stammering a quick apology she turned and made her way out the doors on the opposite end of the stables at a dead run, making her way into the safety of the shadows quickly. She ran until her chest ached with the exertion of it and she collapsed gasping for breath against a large oak tree.

It felt better just to be out in the open for awhile. Staying inside all day working sometimes gave her the ache to get away even for just a few hours. She’d rest here and then make her way back to the lodge. After all, the sun would be up in a few hours and she would keep her promise to finish the work she and Picifico had started. She had to admit, Killian sure did a lot to keep that place shiny clean, running smooth, and everyone inside happy and well supplied with all they needed and desired.

Determined to rest, she found herself reflecting on so many things about her past through the night instead. She didn’t enjoy being the thief she was anymore, but she never had the time or the support of a family to develop herself otherwise. Now she did, someone was always there to point out a little "correction" whenever she drifted off the beaten path. Although it was hard to understand at times, no one judged her here, and she felt blessed for that. She knew inside that they all intended to help her, Killian, Lady Alison, and Caitlin, each in their own unique way ( some a little more painful but equally effective then others). She shook off her negative thoughts and made up her mind that she would work at it until she felt she was someone worthy of this place and the love she found here.

She crept in quietly, glad no one had witnessed her little break down last night. Already her spirits felt a little higher, and the familiar mischievous gleam sparkled in her green eyes. She frowned suddenly, remembering one person did see her last night, along with her blade in the stable door. She would make a special trip out there this morning and apologize for almost trimming part of the Celt’s nose off. It was a darn good looking nose if she said so herself and didn’t need any work done on it.

Whistling to herself and ducking the towel that Millie threw at her as she swiped a fresh loaf of nutbread, and bounded up the back stairs laughing and promising over her shoulder to come right back and help with the dishes in exchange for the warm breakfast. She headed quietly for Picifico’s room to drag her out of the warm bed so they could get to work.

(Part 2) --

Nessa knew Kaie struggled. She watched her through the days while she worked in the stables. The lass was good with the horses and kept the stables clean. She did not appear to have distain for shoveling out the dung as often as it had to be done. The Celt thought Kaie was resourceful and found her way into the shadows when it was timely. But more than anything, Nessa kept being reminded of someone else when it came to the lass’ talent for getting into trouble. Again she would have to be facing Caitlin for calling out “fire” in the Lodge where such a thing, were it real, could be disastrous.

Druidism was as much a part of Nessa as being a warrior. She sensed the depth of pain in Kaie and knew the remedy. Always she kept coming back to memories and how Killian too, would hide her real self behind the cover of impish pranks. No, Kaie had depth untapped and a past locked tight within her. Nessa knew as long as Kaie chose to stay silent and trust no one, she would suffer. But something somewhat drastic would have to happen before Nessa would step up and interfere. A flying blade that might have sliced into her skull was drastic enough for the Celt.

Nessa never liked surprises unless she was behind them and that was usually a tactic of battle. When the dagger blade hit and buried into a large wooden door that might have been her own head if she were minutely slower, she was indeed surprised. She did not become infuriated until the young lass ran away with no more than some mumbled apology before bolting out the door. The Celt pondered and worked the emotion out for a time then saddled her mare, Tuttle and Killian’s Friesian mare, Flame.

From where she stood at the stable door, Nessa spied Kaie climbing the back stairway. The lass was actually whistling happily as she went. “How precious” she said caustically before she broke into a run toward the stairway. Kaie disappeared into the second floor of the Lodge when Nessa reached the stairs. She figured Kaie would be going to Picifico’s room.

Kaie felt positive and ready for a good day striving to learn how to be of service. She reached the door to Picifico’s room but her hand never got to the handle. A big hand wrapped around her wrist and twisted her around to face a silk-clad pair of breasts. In stunned silence, the lass raised her gaze up to meet eyes the color of storm clouds. “Nessa… I uh” she could barely speak to the obviously angry Celt. But talking was not what Nessa wanted anyway. Kaie could just tell. Before she knew what was happening she was hoisted over one broad warrior shoulder. She saw Picifico’s door getting further away as she rode unceremoniously over Nessa’s shoulder. This was not good. “What are you doing, Nessa?” she managed to ask weakly.

“We’re goin’ for a ride, lass” Nessa answered coolly as she walked easily down the central stairway of the Lodge. She was going to parade her young captive through the main hall for all to see.

Kaie heard stories of what happened when this wild warrior took a girl for a ride. Panic hit like a hurricane. Kaie began a kicking and screaming that no one would have thought her capable of. Nessa tightened her hold and continued to walk through the Lodge. Familiar faces of Kindred mixed with visitors all turned their heads to see the spectacle. Nods of amused approval and shouts of encouragement to Nessa made it very clear to Kaie that she would get no help from any of the Lodgers against this brutish Celt.

Once outside, Kaie heard Nessa whistle. The next thing she knew she was sitting astride the most beautiful horse she ever saw. She recognized it. It was Killian’s horse! She was now on the verge of complete hysteria. Visions of her own hanging for horse thievery swayed in her minds eye. Nessa was mounted and reaching for Flame’s bridle when the Friesian bolted forward spurred on by the prodding heels of Kaie.

Tuttle came from a stand-still to a gallop in seconds. Nessa gave the mare her rein and let her go on her own. She half expected the lass to run. That, in fact was all Kaie ever did her whole life. Nessa saw it in her from the beginning. She couldn’t help but notice the beauty of the Black Friesian, her gift to Killian a long time ago. Kaie rode like Killian. Horse and rider became one fluid motion. They rode the good ride across the meadow toward the forest. Nessa was comfortable with that.

Kaie, on the other hand, was not so sure of herself. She knew that Nessa was a Druid so that hiding in the shadows was useless to her. It was her main defense. She knew she could not outrun the Celt once they reached the forest. In all the years of running from the mercenaries sent by her aunt, she never felt anything but confident that she could out run and out wit them and she always did. But this was different somehow. Nessa was not a mercenary and the other Lodgers were her friends. Friends… something she wanted more than she ever knew before.

(Part 3) --

Flame carried Kaie into the forest and slowed to a jostling canter. Kaie thought she could move faster if she took off on foot. She could not see or hear Nessa anywhere. Quickly she jumped from Flame and hit the ground running. She knew the horse would go home. A lump gathered in her throat as she ran. Home was a place that even horses gravitated to. She felt weighted down by grief and still she ran. But Kaie was running blind. She had nowhere to go. Then suddenly that is just where she went… nowhere. She wondered at first if it was a tree she ran into. But she knew in her heart that the tree was Nessa. She fell to the ground, landing square on her back. The wind was knocked out of her but as soon as she could she looked up to see Nessa standing over her.

“I’m happy that you enjoyed the ride, lass. Would you like to take a walk with me now?” Nessa inquired. She was ready for what happened next. Kaie leaped up and started swinging. Catching a small fist in each of her larger hands, the warrior stepped quickly behind Kaie crisscrossing the lass’ arms in front of her. Nessa pulled the smaller body in close. Kaie was trembling deliciously. Nessa whispered into a small ear, “I do not care if you serve me. I don’t need nor do I care for your obedience. I take what I want if I want it, lass. I like to hear pleading from the lass whose pussy I fuck. I have a lesson to teach you and you don’t have to be willing.”

Nessa whirled Kaie around to face her. With a single hand, she ripped the shirt away from the astonished and somewhat terrified Kaie. She grabbed the lass’ hair in a wad and forced her to her knees. “Now stay right there, Kaie” she demanded. We have some talking to do and you will be on your knees while we do it. “Understand?” Nessa asked lifting an eyebrow.

Kaie was very nearly speechless. Her throat was dry but she did not want Nessa to have to ask her again. She managed to squeak out a “Yes.”

“Good” said Nessa. “Now, you are already in trouble for the ‘cry wolf’ stunt at the lodge. Then you get in a miff about not being good enough or some bloody crap and start throwing knives in my stable. It seems to me that you have a bit of a problem with impulse control, little Kaie. You think very well. Too bad you don’t do it before you act. Are you listening?”

“Yes.”

“I have been through many battles where I came through by the skin of my teeth and the Grace of life. It would be a real shame to my honor to die at the hands of an impulsive little hot head. Stand up.” It was not a request. But somehow Kaie couldn’t seem to get up. Nessa helped by lifting her by the hair. Kaie let out a yelp. The Celt was getting excited now. She unfastened the breeches Kaie wore and dropped them to the ground about the lass’ ankles. “Step out of them right now!”

Kaie moved this time. She stood naked in the forest for the sheer pleasure of this warrior. Tears streamed down her face while Nessa walked around her enjoying every inch. Then when Nessa took hold of one of her nipples she tried to pull away. Nessa squeezed hard and yanked the lass back.

Nessa picked Kaie up and tossed her over a fallen tree. She stepped between Kaie’s legs and spread them wide. “Keep your head down, Kai!” Kaie was crying but kept her head down. “You should get a good whipping from me but I am going to let Caitlin have that pleasure. I am only going to redden your ass a little bit and if I find out that it makes you wet, I will fuck you.”

Kaie could hardly believe her ears. The wetness she already produced was dripping down her thighs. The sudden slap on her bare bottom made her jump. Nessa spanked the poor naked lass until she writhed and moaned over that tree. The beauty of it thrilled the Celt. She reached between Kaie’s thighs and found the lass leaking profusely. “What did I tell you would happen if I found your cunt wet? What did I say… hmm? Answer me Kaie.”

Kaie was sobbing but was able to answer “You said you would fuck me, Nessa.”

“So now you are ready for that fucking?”

Kaie didn’t want to say but knew she must. “Yes Nessa” she whimpered. Nessa lay over the sweet naked body and pushed her phallus into the girl again and again. Kaie lost count of how much cumming they each did before it was over. But when it was over, she allowed Nessa to help her dress and hold her tenderly.

Words were not necessary until twilight filtered through the trees. “Are you ready to go home?” Nessa whispered. Kaie nodded gratefully and the two rode home satisfied and safe in the knowledge that everyone at the Kindred Spirit Lodge belonged there. It was a lesson well learned.
